Since the 1980s, the discourse on spatiality has become a central issue for art, architecture, and film. Traditional dualisms such as the inside and the outside, the material and the immaterial, the self and the other became blurred. The aesthetic discourse has merged with political, social, and economic topics, for example in the discussion about the theatralisation of politics or the transformation of the public realm. The conference raises questions such as: Why has the topic of spatiality become so important? How can we describe these changes? Which are the consequences for the various artistic practices and for the theoretical discourse?
Seit den 1980er Jahren spielt die Diskussion von Räumlickeit eine zentrale Rolle für Kunst, Architektur, Film und Theater. Scheinbar selbstverständliche Relationen wie das Innen und das Aussen, das Materielle und das Immaterielle, das Eigene und das Fremde verschwimmen. Der ästhetische Diskurs verschmilzt mit politischen, gesellschaftlichen und ökonomischen Fragen, etwa wenn es um die Frage der Theatralisierung von Politik oder die Transformation von Öffentlichkeit geht. Die Tagung fragt nach den Gründen dieser Veränderungen. Wie können sie beschrieben werden? Welches sind die Konsequenzen für die unterschiedlichen künstlerischen Praktiken und den theoretischen Diskurs?
